Bill Daubmann Community Involvement

Our Commitment to Community Involvement

South Fort Myers High School, in Lee County, Fla., is putting its own spin on ABC’s hit show Shark Tank. The school’s production of “Wolf Den” is based on its mascot, the wolfpack. Bill Daubmann, president of My Shower Door and D3 Glass, is one of six business owners who will hear pitches from the students about their own business ventures and possibly invest to make their ideas a reality.

MY Shower Door Exec, Bill Daubmann, is now part of the Wolfpack

MY Shower Door is the only provider of Frameless Glass Shower enclosures to manufacture, design, install, and warranty their proprietary products. With nine locations through Florida, and new store locations expected in 2021, My Shower Door is poised to be an industry leader. For the last nine consecutive years, readers of the Naples Daily News and The News-Press voted My Shower Door as “the best place to purchase shower doors.”

Daubmann will be the Wolf Den’s “Mr. Wonderful,” sitting in the center of the other investors, as does Shark Tank’s own Mr. Wonderful, Kevin O’Leary.

The judges heard from five South Fort Myers High School students on April 29, with an opportunity to invest in any presentation. Daubmann says the intention is to make it as similar to the actual show as possible, with lawyers assisting with the legalities of such partnerships were to develop. The entire show will be posted to the Lee County School Department’s website, with a half-hour segment intended to broadcast on the local NBC affiliate station, NBC2, according to Daubmann. He says the primary interest in the Wolf Den is to mentor students and to offer them guidance. He also says there is plenty of enthusiasm around the production and anticipates it being an annual occurrence.

“It’s going to be part of the teacher’s curriculum to have it every year, and we’re going to want to grow it. Some more students want to get involved in it, now that they see how it went.”

The possibility of this class becoming a reality is due to the state grant “Jobs for Florida Graduates,” a program organized by the state-funded to pay for the teacher to have these business classes, according to Daubmann. Every student who participated in Wolf Den will remain in contact with each of the “wolves,” not just those who received an investment offer. If the judges know of another contact or business owner who would align with the idea or vision, they will help create that relationship and allow for more mentors to offer help, he said.

The MY Shower Door and D3 Glass owner recognizes that going straight to university from high school is not everyone’s path, but everyone should have a chance to reach their potential, regardless of the steps they take. This mentality has allowed him to do more than just participate in the Wolf Den production. Daubmann is spearheading an Inaugural “Workforce Signing Day.” In the world of high school and college athletics, there is a ceremony where graduating student-athletes sign a binding letter of intent, committing to continuing their career at the university of their choosing. The students are greeted by university representatives and usually are gifted with gear to represent their future school. This is the model for what Daubmann wants to do for the inaugural “Workforce Signing Day.”

The event is scheduled to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the My Shower Door / D3 Glass headquarters in Fort Myers.

At this live and in-person event, graduating students who will be immediately entering the workforce will be celebrated alongside their future employers and will participate in a ceremonial “signing,” where both parties will be recognized and honored, according to Daubmann.

“We want to help them be entrepreneurs and be into business for themselves,” he said.

As a central figure in both events, Mr. Daubmann exemplifies how the glass industry can contribute to helping the next generation workforce.

My Health Guard

MY Health Guard by MY Shower Door

Your Long-Term Safety Solution for Your Customers And Employees

MY HEALTH GUARDS act as a physical barrier that stops the transmission of germs from going beyond the real glass barrier. Firstly, our MY Health Guards are durable and sturdy. They are physically substantial. Secondly, they are aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean.

Stationary glass panels are also often used as room dividers, office partitions and in restaurant seating areas. Multiple fixed panels may be arranged in such a way as to give an architectural design while still being functional and beautiful.

Made in the USA, MY Health Guards are manufactured at our Florida based facility called “D3 Glass” and installed by MY Shower Door. We would be happy to give you a professional estimate for your situation. MY Shower Door team will take precise measurements and offer the proper hardware to secure the Health Guards properly.

Are the real glass Health Guards better than plexiglass shields?

While both products serve the same purpose, real glass Health Guards are a more finished look, clean up easier and don’t fog up over time. Additionally, glass guards are tempered for strength and safety.

Because the MY Health Guards are made from real glass, they can be cleaned and disinfected using alcohol, Windex, or any household glass cleaning product. Also, the fact that they are securely fastened with full supports, the panels won’t fall over like the lightweight self-standing plexiglass ones.

MY Health Guard is made with tempered safety glass for your protection.

MY Shower Door/D3 Glass 4x Winner of Inc 5000 Award

In the United States, there are more than 4,300,000 “Privately Held” companies. Each year INC Magazine ranks the “Top 5,000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in the United States”.

To make that prestigious list a company would be in the top 1/10th of 1 percent of the total number. MY Shower Door / D3 Glass has made that list in FOUR separate years. Such well-known companies as Zappos, Microsoft, Vizio, Chobani, Intuit, and Oracle have been on that same list.

Award-Winner 4 Separate Years

When INC Magazine, one of the country’s top business periodicals, announced its annual rankings, they ranked companies that show substantial growth over a three-year period. This shows a number of key indicators… growth, staying power, and trust. Exceptional companies make that list more than once but for a company to make that list FOUR or more times is truly extraordinary.

The first appearance by MY Shower Door / D3 Glass occurred in 2015 and the ranking was #2085. Secondly, in 2016 with a ranking of #2,400. Thirdly, in 2017, MY Shower Door came in at #4212. Most recently, in 2019 MSD returned at #4,187.

As a result, each year that MSD achieved their rankings, the owners, Bill and Donna Daubmann, attended the INC 5,000 Celebration Event where they were able to mingle with other small and large business owners and sit in on round table discussions and share ideas and best practices.

At their first-ever celebration event, Bill and Donna Daubmann (the owners) met Zappos.com entrepreneur Tony Hsieh. Tony gave some incredible insight into taking a business to a multi-million dollar level and how he helped change the culture within Zappos.

The following year, they were able to meet Marcus Lemonis and Robert Herjavec, who both shared insightful tips and comments and answered audience questions concerning business practices.

By year three, Inc 5000 invited Bill and Donna to have a private lunch with INC Magazine Editor in Chief Eric Schurenberg and ten other Entrepreneurs to discuss the future of Entrepreneurism and virtual business practices.

Finally, during their fourth appearance, they met with the founder of Go Daddy, Bob Parsons. Mr. Parsons shared stories about the founding of GoDaddy, his years of military service, and some of his other business ventures. To this day, Bob owns PXG Golf, which is an acronym for Parsons Xtreme Golf.

Top 10 Things to Know About Frameless Shower Doors

These ten items need your attention so that when the time comes to actually make that purchase of a new frameless shower door, you will be CONFIDENT that you made the right decision.

Always make sure that any company that you choose is fully licensed and insured to perform this type of work as some insurance companies will not pay claims in the event that something was installed incorrectly or an accident happens and they do not have coverage.

A frameless shower door will add value and beauty to any shower but making sure that you address these ten topics will give you many years of great function.

  • 1. How big is the opening that you need glass for? Do you want a pivoting style door or a sliding style?

This is important because it depends upon the amount of room you have AND the type of look that you want.

Check out Pivoting Style and Sliding Style.

  • 2. What is your budget?

Frameless shower doors have a very wide range of pricing tiers, from a few hundred dollars to thousands. We recommend having a budget in mind before contacting us.

Generally speaking, the sliding doors cost less than most swing-style doors, although there are some exceptions.

  • 3. How often will this particular shower be in use? Is this in a guest bathroom or the Master bathroom? Will this be for children, or elderly?

Your answer could help you make a different decision. A seasoned professional will be essential in pointing you in the right direction. Special considerations should be made depending upon specific conditions.
  • 4. Does your new enclosure need towel bars attached through the glass?

These are ideal for the hospitality industry as well as showers that people use when coming back from the beach or swimming at a pool.

Having a place to hang a wet bathing suit INSIDE the shower is very appealing to many buyers.

  • 5. How convenient is it to turn on your water before entering the shower?

This common activity is often overlooked when consumers purchase their units online.
Generally, that is not a question asked by online merchants and a mistake here could haunt you.

Having the ability to turn on and adjust the temperature of your water easily and safely is of the utmost importance.

  • 6. Do you know where the studs are within the walls?

On frameless shower doors that use “wall-mounted hinges,” this could pose a real problem.

Most companies offer 3/8″ tempered glass for their units which means that the hinge side of the door will be secured to the sidewall and if you don’t know what “blocking” is in the wall, you may be hanging a lot of weight off the tile and dura rock only.

This is not a safe scenario as this is a heavy unit and the constant pressure will likely have the door pull away from the wall causing an unsafe situation.

The use of a “pivot style” hinge will transfer the weight pull from the vertical wall to the horizontal threshold. This is a much safer arrangement.

  • 7. What thickness glass do you want?

Most frameless shower door companies only offer 3/8″ thick (10mm) glass even though 1/2″ thick (12mm) is more solid and durable. How the glass is hinged and how it is supported makes all the difference in the world. Using the proper hinge for 1/2″ (12mm) glass will lay your concerns to rest.

    Learn more about Our Glass

  • 8. Do you want “standard clear” glass or “ultra-clear” glass?

Most companies don’t offer the “ultra-clear” glass because it comes at a higher price, but it diminishes the amount of greenish tint that you see when you use “standard clear” glass.

If you have light color tiles, the greenish tint is more pronounced. Most decorators and designers prefer the “ultra-clear” option.

  • 9. Are you using multiple showerheads or overhead rain heads?

The angle of where the water source is coming from is extremely important to identify early.
If the shower is spraying at unusual angles, the location of the door opening is very important. A frameless shower door professional will always discuss this with you when selecting your solution.
  • 10. Will the door be mounted on a curb or directly on the floor?

This is a MAJOR item to consider and it makes a difference as to what type of hinge is used and where the door should be mounted.
