In-Home Measuring Expectations

What Can I Expect at a MY Shower Door In-Home Measuring Appointment?

This article will cover what you can expect when one of our MY Shower Door team members visits your home. We understand that welcoming someone into your home without knowing what to expect can be stressful. We hope that the information provided here will serve to alleviate the uncertainty of that visit, thereby giving you peace of mind.

Upon Arrival

First, please note that all our team members will be driving a MY Shower Door vehicle and will be dressed professionally in MSD attire so you can know for certain that it is “us” and not some other company when we arrive.

Initial Inspection & Design Selections

After introducing ourselves, we will ask to see the bathroom or bathrooms to make an initial observation of the project, asking you to describe what you are envisioning.

If you made any prior selections while in our showroom, if applicable, then we will review those at this time, ensuring that we address any questions or concerns you may have.

Next, we will proceed with recommending and solidifying the shower enclosure design that will be best for your application. This process will include going over the following:

Glass:

  • Glass thickness options (3/8” or ½”)
  • Glass clarity options (Standard Clear, MY Ultra Clear, Satin Etch, Rain, etc.)
  • MY EZ Care Shield protective glass coating

HARDWARE:

  • Finish options (customers typically like to match to the other hardware in the bathroom)
  • Mounting options available for the enclosure design (This discussion will cover the options for mounting the glass for the door(s) and any stationary panels in the design)
  • Confirmation of your preferred handle style for the door(s)

Measuring the Space

Once your design selections are finalized, we will move on to the measuring details of the enclosure. Specifically, if the enclosure design uses a MY Pivot door, the hinge side will be discussed, along with the height of the enclosure and the actual glass path that will be followed with the design. If the enclosure design includes one of our sliding door options, the details of enclosure height and glass path will also be discussed.

At this point in the process, we will take some time to carefully capture all the applicable measurements for the glass enclosure design you selected. We will check all shower walls to determine if they are plumb or out of square as this is an important factor when cutting the glass for the perfect fit. We will also check the threshold or floor (if the shower is a zero-entry design) to ensure it is pitched appropriately for water flow.

Pricing

Once all the applicable measurements have been taken, we will perform a final review with you of all your selections and provide you with an exact price for the work.

If you are ready to move forward, several things will then happen:

  • We will call our scheduling department to solidify an installation date
  • A 50% deposit will be collected from you (either by check or credit card)
  • We will obtain your signature to complete your order

Customer Care

Afterwards, we will leave a copy of the enclosure design, a record of all your selections, along with all the pricing details with you.

Finally, 2-3 days before your scheduled installation date, our customer service team will reach out to confirm your appointment and answer any questions you may have before the final installation occurs.

Final Thoughts

Thank you for taking the time to read this article on what you can expect at a MY Shower Door in-home measuring appointment. We appreciate the opportunity to be your frameless shower door provider and look forward to ensuring that your expectations are exceeded!

The 12th Annual GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch award honors impressive second-stage companies from throughout the state for developing valuable products and services, creating quality jobs, enriching communities, and broadening new industries throughout Florida.

“To be recognized from among over 500 nominees is a great honor for us as a company. ~ Bill Daubmann, President and Founder of Fort Myers-based MY Shower Door / D3 Glass.

MY Shower Door / D3 glass has won several awards in recent years, consistently standing out because of its state-of-the-art design and quality workmanship. The company started in 2003 as a small showroom and assembly operation in Naples, Fla., later delving into manufacturing by founding D3 Glass in 2013.

D3 Glass continues its explosive growth in glass fabrication and tempering, allowing the company to manufacture its own glass and expand its brand over the past several years. The company now makes and installs frameless shower doors for nine Florida MY Shower Door locations and other glass shops in Florida. Additional products include bulletproof glass, decorative glass, wine closets, staircases, office partitions, and other glass products.

Five hundred fifty companies across Florida have been named GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch Honorees since its inception in 2011, including MY Shower Door in 2013. Together, the 12th Annual GrowFL Florida Companies to Watch Finalists represent nearly 2,000 jobs and generates over $430 million in revenue. These companies, all of which are “worth watching,” anticipate a growth of 40 percent in revenue and 18 percent in employment by the end of 2022.

In addition to evaluating past growth and projected success, applicant companies are judged according to their special strengths and impact in their markets, communities, and within the state – thus deeming them “worth watching.”

Top 50 Glaziers

MY Shower Door/D3 Glass Listed in The Top 50 Glaziers in the United States for 2022

Local business continues to grow despite economic challenges

The 2022 edition of Top 50 Glaziers marks Glass Magazine’s annual standout industry report and ranking and MY Shower Door has been named among the elite.

MY Shower Door / D3 Glass is recognized among the Top 50 Glaziers for 2022 in the United States by Glass Magazine, the official publication of the National Glass Association. The top trade publication and longest running ranking for the glass and glazing industry recently ranked MY Shower Door No. 38 in the $15-30 million annual sales volume sector.

Glass Magazine’s annual Top 50 Glaziers celebrates its 30th anniversary with this year’s report. The report was first published in 1992 with the goal of highlighting leading U.S. glazing contractors, ranked by sales volume. Over the years, it has also become a market study and health check for the domestic glazing market, presenting leading trends, growth segments, industry headwinds and more. According to the report, Glass Magazine’s 2022 Top 50 Glaziers posted gross sales of an estimated $3.8 billion last year, up from $3.1 billion in 2020, and marking a return to pre-pandemic gross sales.

MY Shower Door currently has 9 locations throughout the state of Florida and employs more than 155 hard-working Americans.

MY Shower Door / D3 glass has won several awards in recent years, consistently standing out because of their state-of-the-art design and quality workmanship. The company started in 2003 as a small showroom and assembly operation in Naples, Fla., later delving into manufacturing by founding D3 Glass in 2013.

D3 Glass continues its explosive growth in glass fabrication and tempering, allowing the company to manufacture its own glass and expand the company brand over the past several years. The company now makes and installs frameless shower doors for nine Florida MY Shower Door locations as well as other glass shops in Florida, other products include bulletproof glass, decorative glass, wine closets, glass staircases, office partitions and other glass products.

According to Glass Magazine, even in the face of economic setbacks—including the early 2000s recession following the dotcom bubble burst and 9/11, the Great Recession beginning in 2008, and the recent turmoil caused by COVID-19—U.S. glazing market sales continue to trend upward. Additionally, glaziers are adopting new digital tools and software for better project delivery. In this year’s survey, 60 percent of companies report using 3D modeling, and 67 percent of companies report investing in new software during the previous year.
